Derek Patrick Crook, age 46, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Dec. 6, 2018 at home.

Derek was born on March 29, 1972 in Winchester, Ky., at Clark Co. Hospital to Joseph R. Crook and Bridgett A. Parsons.

Derek graduated East Providence High School, East Providence, Rhode Island and attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina majoring in Fine Arts and Art History.

Derek was employed by Michael Orchard Studios, and Classic Glass, building and designing stain glassed windows. He also worked with Richard Szeits on a 1998 sculpture commemorating the Red River Flood in Grand Forks. Derek also worked as a freelance artist creating many works in the Fargo Area.

March 29, 1972 – December 06, 2018

Derek was an avid Naturalist and appreciated the many splendors of nature and all of her creatures. Derek was well known for his proficiency and love for intellectual challenges and love of participating in games such as Jeopardy, Trivia, and other knowledge based games.

Derek is survived by his parents, Joseph R. Crook and Bridgett A. Parsons; sisters Bridgett (Bridie) Crook Robertson and Constance Raleigh; his step mother Rachel A. Crook; his brother-in-law Joseph Robertson; his nieces and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

We will forever treasure and remember Derek’s quick wit, great sense of humor, infectious laugh, and his kind and generous heart.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Dawn Morgan, Clint Lende, Michael Orchard, and Randy Rick.

Calling hours and a Memorial will be held Thursday, Dec. 13, at 4:00 p.m. at the Spirit Room, 111 Broadway. This service is open to the public.

​

In lieu of flowers, it is requested contributions be sent to the SPCA in Derek’s name.
