John Manesis was a prolific poet in Fargo and published his 8 th poetry book three months before he passed away in October of 2021. He did not get a chance to read from this 8 th book and his daughter, Stephanie Manesis, will be doing a reading from his poetry book, entitled "Please Remember Us.” This reading will take place on the second anniversary of John’s passing,

Perhaps it is optimism, compassion, humor or use of language or all of these that have led audiences to say after John Manesis’ public readings, “I have not appreciated poetry before nor have I understood it. Now I shall try again.” Catherine Cater, Late Professor Emerita, NDSU.

Please join us on Friday, October the 20 th to celebrate John Manesis’ poetry and legacy! Wine and appetizers provided.

Eleven years ago, Brian, a wandering monk, renounced his former life and set out on the road to share the mystical path to Self-Realization. He has held hundreds of gatherings at spiritual centers, churches, and yoga studios all over the country. He is an inspirational speaker and a meditation teacher.

Satsang means “association with higher Truth.” In these sacred gatherings, Brian speaks about the nature of Truth and Love, and he recounts his amazing adventures as a monk and renunciant. He tells ancient tales about the mystical lives of saints. He holds a transformative space to bring the mind into deeper states of meditation. He plays harmonium and leads kirtan.

In this workshop we will be utilizing the scientifically proven, potent, and effective modality of breathwork to unveil and release stagnancy lingering in the body, mind, and spirit.

By opening ourselves to the power of breath we are able to naturally remove these energetic blockages, making available a clearer psyche and creative life force.

This practice is transformational, insightful, a pathway for infinite possibility, and heightened consciousness, & communion with the Higher Power (God).

Breathwork is a safe & simple experiential process. This practice is available to everyone regardless of ability, age or experience.

We will use a connected & conscious breathing rhythm called “circular breath” to flood the body with O2. In addition, you will be supported with our renowned, hands on energy work during the session. This breathwork journey will last for approximately 65 minutes and will be accompanied by a powerful musical playlist to assist the journey. There will be an opening & closing circle, before and after, to share intentions, guidance, reflections & answer questions.

*Wear loose & comfortable clothing so that you can breathe & move without restriction.

**Very important: Yoga mats are available for your convenience at the Spirit Room. You may want to bring your own cozy blanket for warmth as body temperature can drop while breathing. Please note that thick pillows underneath the head are not recommended as they can reduce the flow of deep breathing into the throat & upper chest.

Tatting is a technique for handcrafting a particularly durable lace from a series of knots and loops. Tatting can be used to make lace edging as well as doilies, collars, accessories such as earrings and necklaces, and other decorative pieces.

Join Theresa Vitt as she leads attendees through creating the project of the evening. If you're a fan of crochet or macramé you'll find this a delightful challenge. Appropriate for ages 14 and up space is limited for this unique workshop. Contact Theresa at 651-359-3258 or by email at vitttheresa@gmail.com to reserve your spot.

Theresa Vitt is a fiber artist, who has been tatting lace since the summer of 2010 when she turned 14, knitting since she was about 8, and crocheting since the start of lockdown in 2020. She enjoys the fantasy and cottage-core elements of fiber arts, and takes great pride in making gifts for people she cares about. She loves to introduce people to new forms of crafting because she likes to see how happy it makes them to learn and connect with others. She infrequently posts to social media (@terry_aesthetic (instagram) and @knotty_knots_by_terry (tiktok)) since she gets too caught up in the making of the pieces to actually post.

Please join us at the Spirit Room in the Lotus Studio for the community lecture, “The Battle Within,” led by Swami Tattwamayananda , Minister- in -charge of the Vedanta Society of Northern California, San Francisco.

In this talk, Swami Tattwamayananda will focus on the battle between "good" and "evil" in our mind- to show a Hindu perspective of overcoming "evil" by "good".

Swami Tattwamayananda is a monk of the Ramakrishna Order. He received traditional training as a scholar in Sanskrit, in Vedic studies and in Indian philosophy with a special focus on Advaita Vedanta and with an additional emphasis on the study of Ramakrishna - Vivekananda literature. He  was assigned to various centers of the Ramakrishna Order in India as editor, publisher and teacher. In addition to Sanskrit and Indian philosophy, he has also taught Hindu, Vedantic and Buddhist scriptures. He has often been invited to attend international conferences dealing with traditional Vedic Scriptures. In January, 2012, he was asked by the Order to come to the United States. Currently, he is serving as the Minister-in-charge of the Vedanta Society of Northern California, San Francisco.

Imagine a group of men. A group of human beings, where everyone listens to what you say and willing to hear the truth beneath your words. Everyone is here to accept your voice, your emotions, your energy. Where everyone is committed on listening the very best of you, even if you can’t hear it yourself.

A strong brotherhood is developed. Any ‘regular guy’ can enter this space and feel empowered to share the unabashed truth about his life. There is no show to be put on here for others. There is no setting ourselves up in opposition to each other or any perceived ‘other’ in the world. This space is not for seeking salvation. We are here to cut through the bullshit. We are coming together to accept and work through the fears of showing authenticity, vulnerability, perceived weaknesses in our everyday lives. We are here to discover our own definition of masculinity and how to be strong and sensitive men at the same time. Let’s explore our purpose as men.

Donations accepted, but never expected.

Meditation, as it is practiced in some Buddhist traditions, is quiet abiding with whatever thoughts arise. We let thoughts pass without aversion or craving. There is nothing special about meditation if we live our lives by accepting whatever arises and then let go.
